Lychees, botanically classified as Litchi chinensis, are tropical fruits, originally from Southern China and Southeast Asia. They are also known as Alligator Strawberry for their red, scaly skin. The Mauritius Lychee is the variety of choice for commercial growers in Florida because it is regular and heavy producer. It tends to have a high proportion of fruit with a small seed which makes them even more enjoyable.
