Atemoya is a hyrbid between Sugar Apple (Annona squamosa) and Cherimoya (Annona cherimola), and is a category of tropical fruits belonging to the Annonaceae family. Atemoyas were first bred in a laboratory in Florida.
The Red Atemoya is a cross between a Geffner atemoya and a San Pablo custard apple (47-18). It prodices heart-shaped fruits with red, scaly skin and creamy white flesh.
Taste: The flesh is smooth and mildly sweet with a hint of berry, offering a flavor closer to cherimoya than sugar apple. Its texture is bouncy and chewy, much like the Geffner variety.
